Sopo Gelava brings a decade of expertise to her work in information analysis, OSINT, and media literacy. She is Associate Director for Research at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab), where she leads research on foreign information manipulation and interference, with a focus on Europe and Caucasus. She has also served as a Technical Information Data Specialist for the Georgia Information Integrity Program, implemented by Zinc Network. Alongside her research, she teaches fact-checking, verification, and disinformation analysis at the University of Georgia. Earlier in her career, she led media literacy programs at the Media Development Foundation and contributed to information verification and data analysis for its fact-checking platform Myth Detector.
