Principal Research Fellow, National Security Institute, Fujitsu Defense and National Security Limited
Dr. Takahiro Sasaki is a retired Rear Admiral of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) and a researcher specializing in cybersecurity, information warfare, and international security. Following a distinguished career in Japan’s Ministry of Defense, he currently serves as Principal Researcher at the National Security Institute, Fujitsu Defense & National Security Ltd.; and as Visiting Professor at Hiroshima University’s Faculty of Law and Tokai University’s Institute for Strategic Peace and International Affairs Research. He is also affiliated with several research organizations focusing on cyber defense and security policy.
During more than three decades of service in the JMSDF, Dr. Sasaki held numerous operational and leadership roles. His assignments included a liaison officer to the U.S. Navy’s Third Fleet, Defense Attaché at the Embassy of Japan in Russia, Commander of the 8th Escort Division, Cyber planning coordinator at the Joint Staff Office, and Commander of the C4I Systems Center, contributing to the development of Japan’s cyber defense policy.
Dr. Sasaki received his Ph.D. from Hiroshima University and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Defense Academy of Japan.
