Thorsten Quandt is a German online researcher and a Professor of Online Communication at the University of Münster in Germany. With previous academic stations at the Free University Berlin, LMU Munich, and the University of Hohenheim, he has also served as a visiting professor at prestigious universities including Stanford University, the University of Oxford, the University of California Santa Barbara, and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.Quandt's research focuses on the impact of digital media on society, particularly dysfunctional online use. He is currently leading research projects on disinformation, propaganda, hate speech, and populism. In his interdisciplinary collaborations, Quandt develops innovative methods of identifying disinformation campaigns using traditional empirical methods such as surveys and experiments, as well as large-scale computational analyses and simulations.
