Speaker BIO

Stuart Skeates served for 35 years in the British Army and now runs his own consultancy and mentoring business.

Educated at the Judd School Tonbridge, King’s College London, and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he was commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Artillery in 1988.

He has extensive operational leadership experience in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Cyprus, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He spent the latter stages of his career in international and joint operations, with the Joint Expeditionary Force, the US Marine Corps and NATO, finishing his military service as Deputy Commander of Joint Force Command Brunssum. He was also Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

He worked on small boats and illegal migration in both the Cabinet Office and the Home Office until he left public service in 2024.

He is now runs his own consultancy business and is a senior mentor at the UK Defence Academy and the Baltic Defence College.

He holds degrees from Kings College London, the Cranfield Management School, and has completed the UK Advanced and Higher Command and Staff Course, UK and NATO Pinnacle Courses and the UK Major Projects Leadership Academy.
