Head of Program, Information Operations and Disinformation, Australian Strategic Policy Institute
Dr. Jacob Wallis leads the Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s research program on Information Operations and Disinformation, and is partner liaison to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace’s Partnership for Countering Information Operations. Dr Wallis has testified before the Parliament of Australia’s Select Committee on Foreign Interference through Social Media, and briefed congressional staff on Capitol Hill. Dr Wallis works with like-minded democratic governments, civil society organisations, and the major social media platforms on countering disinformation and information operations by state and non-state actors. These partnerships have produced internationally-recognised analysis of the People’s Republic of China’s disinformation campaigns and coercive statecraft. His analysis of large-scale disinformation and propaganda campaigns has featured in The Financial Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Sydney Morning Herald, Bloomberg, CNN, and The South China Morning Post. Before joining the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Dr Wallis was a national security analyst with the Australian government.
