Defence Counsellor, Lithuanian Permanent Representation to NATO
In September 2024 Greta Monika Tuckute has joined Lithuanian Permanent Representation to NATO as a defence counsellor focusing on capability development and defence industry topics. Before that in the end of January of 2023 Greta Monika Tučkutė assumed the post of the Deputy Minister of National Defence of Lithuania. Her main responsibility areas covered defence procurement and defence industry topics as well as policy making and coordination of National Cyber Security and Defence. Ms Tučkutė has worked in the field of defence and security for almost 20 years. Prior to the listed above positions, she worked as an Advisor at NATO’s Human Security Unit within the office of NATO’s Secretary General for more than two years. Ms Tučkutė has an extensive experience in leading interinstitutional coordination work as for almost four years since the beginning of 2017 she worked as a political Advisor to the Minister of National Defence, overseeing the development of relations of the Ministry of National Defence with governmental institutions, NGO’s and think tanks and coordinating legislative processes with different stakeholders. From 2005 to 2017, Greta Monika Tučkutė founded and led the Centre for Geopolitical Studies, where she delved into geopolitical and security challenges in the region. From 2011 to 2013, she worked at the Giraite munitions factory, where she was responsible for the business development and cooperation with foreign partners. Greta Monika holds degrees in law (BA) and conflicts resolution (MA) obtained in Vilnius (Lithuania) and Leuven (Belgium), speaks fluently English, Russian and French, has understanding of German, Dutch (Flemish) and Polish.
